My name is Al, I'm the artist and owner here at Avenmaille. I'm 30 years old, from Western North Carolina. Currently in Phoenix, Arizona.
I have always had a deep fascination with the artistry it takes to create something concrete and intricate from simple pieces of metal. Specifically pulling inspiration from the Italian Renaissance, Medieval Weaponry, and the Roman Empire. As this is my first launch, I am focusing on the basics, but you may see some new techniques and additions soon as I branch out into more classic forms of metal work.
Why Avenmaille? Because I turned a deep obsession into something we can all enjoy. I get to scratch the chainmail itch, and you get to look cool. I've spent years honing this craft and have zero plans to stop. Aven is my baby (don't tell my cats I said that), and it feels so surreal to follow my dreams and create art that could quite possibly outlive us all.
All of my pieces are made by hand, with 314 Stainless Steel. They are hard, tough, weather resistant, water resistant, corrosion resistant, and can be worn daily with little to no change to the piece itself. My daily stack has lasted me 5+ years, and I have only ever had to replace the clasp.
With that being said, all pieces have a lifetime warranty. I will repair anything needed, even if just a simple clasp fix. Just send it to me, and I'll send it back to you.
